About the Event
Acclaimed Folk Artist Lewis Barfoot makes her Uillinn debut performance. She is joined by multi-instrumentalist Justin Grounds as they journey to create a rich, ethereal and magical tapestry of land, people and stories. With original compositions from her first album Glenaphuca, new material from her second album and reinventions of traditional songs performed on voice, guitar, fiddle, viola and loop pedal, this is a night to enrich and delight.
Lewis Barfoot is a timeless and gifted storyteller who captivates listeners with her fearless lyrics and gorgeous otherworldly voice. Frequently compared to the likes of Kate Rusby, Sandy Denny, MaÃre Brennan and Julie Fowlis, her debut album Glenaphuca has received widespread acclaim and support from BBC Radio and RTÉ1. Before her solo work she sang in the folk ensemble Rún, playing at Glastonbury, the Union Chapel and the Royal Festival Hall. She is now based in East Cork, but the West is calling her back :-) Tonight she will be joined by Clonakilty based violinist, composer and music producer Justin Grounds with whom she has been developing her second album Mother Ireland.
