About the Event

'What a beautiful, beautiful voice she has, just gorgeous!' - Eve Blair, BBC Radio Ulster

'Virtuoso violinist and all-round accomplished musician' Josey De Rossi, One Stop Arts

Join folk artist Lewis Barfoot and multi-instrumentalist Elisabeth Flett as they journey with song, spoken word and music to create a rich tapestry of land, people and stories. Drawing inspiration from traditional folk music and nature, Woods & Water guides the listener into landscapes of moss, trees, rivers, birdsong and, occasionally, magic. With original compositions and reinventions of traditional songs including Bonny Portmore and Wild Mountain Thyme performed on voice, guitar, fiddle and loop pedal, Woods & Water promises to be a spellbinding performance which will enchant folk fans and nature lovers alike.

Lewis Barfoot is a timeless and gifted storyteller who captivates listeners with her fearless lyrics and gorgeous otherworldly voice. Frequently compared to the likes of Kate Rusby, Sandy Denny, Maíre Brennan and Julie Fowlis, her debut album Glenaphuca has received widespread acclaim and support from BBC Radio and RTÉ1.  Before her solo work she sang in the folk ensemble Rún, playing at Glastonbury, the Union Chapel and folk festivals across the UK and releasing two EP's with them. Lewis is now an established  solo artist on the London folk circuit, appearing regularly for institutions such as Nest Collective.

‘The delightful sound of a musician who is both an accomplished composer of original material and a torchbearer

keeping alive traditional styles and song’

David Pratt - FRUK
