“In addressing and bringing into the light the shameful treatment of women in Irish history and in affording voice for their emancipation and empowerment, Barfoot, might just be one of the most important voices in contemporary Irish music”

Lewis Barfoot displays a fearless and disarming honesty in her lyrics. A contemporary folk composer who works with an uncomplicated loveliness of sound, blending ethereal, evocative vocals with original compositions and reinventions of traditional songs. Frequently compared to the likes of Kate Rusby, Sandy Denny and Maíre Brennan. Her debut album, Glenaphuca released in 2021 received great support from RTÉ 1, FRUK, BBC Radio Ulster and RTÉ na Gaeltachta. Her new album “HOME”, set for release on 17th November 2023 welcomes rivulets of jazz and a beautiful rhythm section to her folk palette. Recorded at Wavefield Recordings and SoundSound and in her home studio in Cork and mixed with Giles Barrett at Lightship 95. HOME welcomes a beautiful new line up of musicians to Lewis' work with Michael Riordan on Bass, Gabriel Buffa on Clarinet, Essa Flett on Violin, Lea Micklody on Cello and Davie Ryan on Drums. HOME will tour the UK with Culture Ireland support in September and Ireland in November/December.
